Enclosure (v1 prototype)

tag_case.scad is a parametric two-part case: base + lid. Every key dimension is a parameter at the top of the file. Measure your actual parts with calipers and edit before printing. Anything marked MEASURE in the file is a guess.

openscad -D 'part="base"' -o base.stl tag_case.scad
openscad -D 'part="lid"' -o lid.stl tag_case.scad # already flipped face-down
openscad tag_case.scad # exploded preview; console echoes the envelope

OpenSCAD wasn't installed on the machine this was written on, so the file has not been render-checked. Open it in OpenSCAD (F5 preview, then F6 render) before your first print.

Layout (default parameters)

This is bigger than Cornell's 7 × 4 × 2.5 cm nylon V2. That's expected: v1 proves function and v2 shrinks it (see ../BUILD.md). Weigh the finished tag. The target is under 60 g on the animal, including the ear tag.

Bench / walk tests: FDM PETG Field / on-animal: SLA tough resin
Material PETG (dry it first: 65 °C for 4 h; wet PETG prints porous) Tough/ABS-like or "Tough 2000"-class resin; UV-stable if available
Layer 0.16–0.2 mm 0.05–0.1 mm
Walls / infill 4 perimeters, 5 top/bottom layers, 40% gyroid Solid; drain holes not needed
Nozzle / temp 0.4 mm, 235–245 °C, bed 75–80 °C, fan 30–50% Per resin datasheet
Orientation Base: open side up. Lid: outer face down (the lid export already flips it) Base: tilt 15–30° so the rim and groove don't sit on supports; supports only on the outside bottom. Lid: tilted, supports on the inside face only, never in the groove or tongue
Post Heat-set inserts at about 230 °C. Leak-test: dunk for 10 min with a tissue inside Wash, full UV post-cure (brittle if under-cured), then inserts

FDM parts leak through layer lines more often than through the gasket. For any wet test, brush a coat of thin epoxy or XTC-3D on PETG parts, or use the SLA version.
